Meme Monday: Seven

Guilty! I’m guilty

I have been ignoring my meme-forwarding friends long enough – and, today I’m going to do something about it.

I love memes. Love them! Why wouldn’t I? I get to talk all about myself!

Fun for you, I know…

So, for the next few Mondays (at least) I’m gonna catch up on my memes.

Today’s meme was sent to be via my new friend Linda of Milanese Masala and it goes like this:
– Link to your tagger and post these rules on your blog.
– Share seven facts about yourself on your blog, some random, some weird.
– Tag seven people at the end of your post by leaving their names and links to their blogs.
– Tell them they have been tagged by leaving a comment on their blog.

I’m not gonna tag anyone. But, I *really* hope some of you will do this meme and let me know you’ve done it! Deal?

Here goes:

1. Like Linda, I have a pretty good gaydar. Although, while she outed Bert and Ernie, I’ve got my own doubts about Captain Jack Sparrow. Ohhh, come on! You wondered, too!

2. I am not an animal person. I can see other people’s dogs, cats, and pigs and think they are cute, but I’m ok just being a pet-aunt. I’m actually a teeny tiny bit afraid of dogs. No, I was never bitten. This is a totally unfounded fear. Like heights! Or, spiders.

3. I never tasted a fig until I moved to Italy, and I don’t like ’em.

4. I’ve wanted to live in New York City since I was three years old, and in fact, used to run away, and when I say “run away” I mean hide under my parent’s bed, to NYC all the time!

5. I wasn’t just a cheerleader in high school. I was All-American

6. I need more than eight hours of sleep per night to function at my best.

7. I believe psychics use their 6th sense, and I love psychic shows like Medium, Ghost Whisperer, and even Psych!

Remember, if you do the meme…let me know. I wanna hear your secrets, too!

There is nothing interesting left to tell about me at all. Trust me.

But I also didn’t like figs at first, but discovered that the green ones I like if peeled and the black ones I just grew to like. Now I cook a few things with them and I bet you’d like them too. One is a fig/lemon conserve to eat with pecorino that is based on a Texas recipe. The crostata with goat cheese pretty much is good, whether you like figs or not. It’s a shame to miss something that grows free everywhere here.

Jack Sparrow, eh? Now that you mention it….

I’m so with you on the figs. Taste like mushy nothingness.

We had MALE cheerleaders at our Catholic high school. Very attractive.

I still want to run away to NYC!

And I, too, need 8 hrs of sleep but my 18 month-old son doesn’t seem to think so. Men!!

Oh I love psychic shows! You have to go to Hay House Radio . com and listen to John Holland and Sylvia Browne! I always turn them on when I’m cleaning!
I don’t like figs either. My grandparents had a fig tree and I always thought they were yucky!
Jack Sparrow….NOOOOO…I can kinda see it, but don’t want to believe it! I could change him, lol.

I laughed about needing eight hours of sleep. Good luck if you ever have kids. πŸ™‚

And I am the same way about animals! I used to be a huuuuuuge dog lover but now, just look at them as just one more responsibility….

Decobabe. I might like them this year. Like Michelle says below, they might be an acquired taste, cause I do like Crodino now. Your recipes sound great.

Linda…men can be so difficult! ha ha.

    Sorry, Tanya…so, so, sorry! lol

Michelle, funny you mention Crodino, b/c I was just telling P on Sunday how it is strange that I like them now. Remember, how I hated them when I first came here.

Oh, no…Amber. That’s what I hear. P doesn’t have to sleep quite as much as me. He’ll handle it. Yea. Yea!

I’m so not an animal person either. My hubby wants to move to the country (as do I) and have 2 dogs and sheep and chickens…oi! As long as I don’t have to feed and clean up after them, and as long as they stay out of my way, we might be able to come to an understanding!

    Great answers : )

I thought you were going to confess something like the time you confessed to loving the Paris Hilton song. πŸ™‚ hehe.

I’m not a fan of raw figs. Especially off the tree, because I’m scared that there will be a bug in it. Anyhow, I could get the recipe from Taylor’s mom so you can make fig preserves. Basically, take a ton of sugar, a ton of figs and some water, and cook together until you have a sweet, gooey SE Texas delicacy, ready to eat on toast or straight out of the jar!

I’ve thought the same thing about Jack Sparrow. He just sashays a bit too much for a straight (and cocky) male. And he does seem to love his makeup and hair accessories.

FWIW, I’m an eight-hours kind of gal myself. Luckily, working from home I have little problem getting my 8 in. And if not, well, that’s what naps are for, right? πŸ˜‰

  20. homebody at heart

No, I don’t think Cap’n Jack is that way… he’s just in touch with his feminine side! Or, maybe, he’s a metrosexual…

I love figs sooo much that I just bought another tree to plant in the garden. I got started eating the dried, greek figs sold in rounds but I remember (in the olden days) that when they dried and fell off the tree above the chicken coop, the chickens would fight over them…and I kinda feel the same way now!

And, I really hate those bogus, docu-drama psychic shows (even though I had my own recent, psychic experience…)

I didn’t know you lived in NYC, Nadine. You are FAR from there now, aren’t you?

Erin – ha ha…I hear ya!

AO – uh, NO. I’m not getting THAT personal again! lol. I think P would LOVE the figs like that. I’ll take that recipe, thankyouverymuch!

    Krystal – I don’t know what I’m missing…I’ll keep tasting them, ok?

LABloggerGal – Oh yes. His eye makeup is better than mine! lol. And, yes. Naps are GREAT, but I have a hard time getting up. It’s not that I’m lazy, I just need to sleep!

Ohhh, HH – tell us your story. Sounds interesting. I’m glad you got a new fig tree. Enjoy!
