It is has arrived! Pesce d’Aprile, April Fools’ … All Fools Day.

I know I am. I never was a great jokester so I won’t bore you with my easily recognizable April Fools’ Day pranks, but I am also not the type to pass up a good party-and a day dedicated to laughs, jokes and pranks? Oh yea … that is a party.
But like all somewhat-inquisitive minds in the blogosphere, I got curious and started thinking … what’s the deal with April 1? How, with 365 days to choose from, did April 1 become the sucker?
According to InfoPlease.Com, the Romans celebrated New Year’s Day around April 1 which closely followed the spring equinox on March 20 or 21. In 1582, the Gregorian Calendar-that celebrated New Year’s Day on January 1-was introduced. Many people either didn’t know about the date change or refused to accept it and continued to celebrate New Year’s Day on April 1. Other people made fun of these old-fashioned fools who couldn’t adapt to change, thus creating the practice that eventually spread throughout Europe.
Ok, then … I’ll blame the Romans.
