The 2020 Blue Flag Beaches have been released. This internationally recognized awardinternationally recognized award goes out to the coastal areas, marinas, and beaches that have shown a high standard of water quality, safety, and environmental protection and management.

This year Calabria has earned three more Blue Flags, giving the region a total of 14 Blue Flag beaches. Calabria has one of the most beautiful coastlines in Italy and we would highly recommend stopping at one of these Blue Flag beaches during your stay.

Rocca Imperiale
Rocca Imperiale is a hamlet in the province of CosenzaRocca Imperiale is a hamlet in the province of Cosenza located near the border of Basilicata. A visit to this village which cascades down the foothills it sits upon it’s easy to see why it is listed as one of the Most Beautiful Hamlets in Italy. The old town is dominated by a Swabian castle and overlooks the shores of the Ionian sea. Rocca Imperiale Marina is located on the seaside and is made up of 7km of beach that changes from rocky to pebble to golden sand. The beach located along the promenade, closest to the town center offers a white pebbly beach and an incredible view of the castle above. Towards the south of the town, you’ll find the Scoglio di Pietra Cervaro, which is a favorite for those who enjoy snorkeling and exploring the deep and crystal clear sea that surrounds this large rock off the coast.

Siderno
The Siderno Beach sits on the Ionian sea along the “
Costa dei Gelsomini” (Jasmine Coast or Jasmine Riviera) in the province of Reggio Calabria. This beach offers spectacular soft clear sand and clear blue waters. There is a long promenade lined with private beach bars, restaurants, and ice cream shops. The lungomare or promenade is a great place for a relaxing evening walk after an amazing day at the beach! Get up early and catch the sunrise on the beach – it’ll be worth it!


Tropea
Tropea is one of the most popular and Calabrian destinationsTropea is one of the most popular and Calabrian destinations for national and international tourists. It is located on the “Coast of the Gods”, and is famous for its sparkling blue-green waters, dramatic views, and charming historical center. The coastline of Tropea will take your breath away from its incredible views to the small hidden coves and harbors. Tropea can get quite busy during high tourist season but if you have the chance to visit in early June or September, you’ll be able to truly enjoy this paradise on earth! Given that it’s a tourist destination, you will easily find all the amenities you could possibly need for a perfect beach holiday!
