After months of cutting through Italian Red Tape (with dull scissors, no doubt,) Il Cedro Bed and Breakfast is set to open its doors, ahem, “officially” that is, this FRIDAY!
Woo Hoo!
Who knew the paperwork would take FIVE months to process? I know, I know, some of you expats living in Italy coulda guessed, but really now…FIVE MONTHS?!?
Even though we are still holding out for that official paper to post on our wall, Peppe and I think we’ve learned a whole bunch about running a B&B. For one thing, we know some decisions are harder to make than others, and we’ve learned that some parts of the job just-never-end!
Thanks to my B&B buddies, from Scotland back to Italy (Really Rome, Chaplin, and Little Italy) I’ve been given a heads up on expectations and boundaries.
Such as
“Set a time limit for check-ins”
“Work really hard on your website”
“It will take time…”
Kataroma added more about this in one of her posts last week. Interesting, no?
Sooo….here we go. After years of planning, constructing, remodelling, decorating, and, (he he) waiting…We’re almost there, baby.
Almost…
Woohoo!!!! I’ll save my auguris, though, for when the paper’s on the wall 😉
HAPPY 4th July Cherrye and good luck for you B&B.
Yay!!!! That is great news! Good luck with everything! Happy 4th of July to you.
Yay!! I’ve been waiting to hear this news! *so* happy for you two… you’re going to do great, I have no doubts… (BTW I’m waiting on some American guests to check in as I type… :D)
Happy 4th. e auguroni for the grand opening of your B&B.
So, how does one get around in Catanzaro, do you have to have a car or is public transportation sufficient.
I’m thinking for when I plan my next trip.
Well good for you guys. It sounds really exciting!
Happy 4th! But you should be setting off your fire works on Friday.
Looking forward to seeing that official paper, because as an official blogger, you will be posting a photo, right? 😉
Best of luck with everything, Cherrye!
Congratulations, this is very exciting! I’m putting a virtual bottle of champagne on ice for you. Keep us posted!
THAT IS SOOOOOOO AWESOME!!! Congratulations!!
I’ll hopefully get to visit you sometime!!
YEAY!!!!!!!
If its ready by next june …we are so staying there!
Bacini!
I hear you – Sognatrice…I was doing the same.
Thanks, Antonino!
Erin – Happy 4th to you, too! Thanks for the well wishes.
Hey Concetta – thanks so much!! I hope your American guests were good to you.
Anonymous – Happy be-lated 4th to you, as well, and thanks for the auguri!
We have public transportation in Catanzaro that will take you where you need to go and help you get around. But, I recommend getting a car if at all possible! You will be able to easier make day trips outside of Catanzaro. I had some friends in town last week and I recommended they rent a car, too. It is much easier and you can be more independent. If you want / need more info, please email me at [email protected].
J – Last year Italy won the World Cup on the 4th, so…everyone celebrated (for US I am sure!!) Happy belated 4th!
G – yes…a pic will follow!
Thanks, Shelley!! I am drinking that virtual glass right now!!
Louise – I SO hope you get to visit sometime. We will save the best room for you. (well, maybe not SAVE it until you come, but, you get the drift!?!)
Calabrisella – It will be open next June – no doubts!! I can’t wait for you to come and to meet you!
