Don’t you just LOVE a good day?
Yesterday was sooo good, in fact, that I am going to have to post about it today ’cause it just can’t wait til’ Love Thursday tomorrow.
Maybe it is the remnants of Pasqua or the Springtime scent in the air, or maybe (hopefully) I am feeling more secure in my new locale…but yesterday was just so darn close to perfection that I am pretty sure if I glance over in the mirror, I’ll see a glow.
It started when I received a call from an old student of mine from LU. He was in Europe, on his way to Paris, actually, and wanted to say hi. He hopes to get a chance to visit Southern Italy in the next couple of weeks…tres’ cool!
Then, my friend Michelle, who I had made plans with the day before, called to say she was in Catanzaro and ready, I presumed, for a good ole Catanzarese cappuccino! And, she was. We headed to Lido, had a nice little passeggiata along the sea walk, and risked overstaying our welcome at Il Cremino Bar, where the not-so-shabby-lookin’ barista made us chocolaty, frothy cappuccini with a decorative chocolate star. (Which Michelle, in her pursuit to photograph all things Calabrese, documented with flair…check it out.)
In the afternoon, I received a phone call at home. Loosely translated (which it has to be, cause I didn’t catch it all) the man said.
“Cherrye??”
“Si…” (surprised, because 99 out of 100 times the call is NEVER for me).
“Italian Italian Italian…I am in Catanzaro….Italian Italian Italian…Flowers for you….yadda yadda yadda…I’ve had them since April 5 – no one was home.”
To which I grunted my disagreement with his mis-observation, since we were, indeed, home all day long on April 5.
“More Italian….baby SCREAMING in the background…more Italian…where is your house?”
Ah ha! Proof he didn’t try on April 5…
So, I tell him where we live and he finishes with…”I’ll be right there.”
A few minutes later these arrive.
What bellissimi flowers! Tulips, my most favoritest flower in the whole big wide world, now adorn my desk and their scent fills my bedroom…ahhh yes, I’ll have sweet dreams tonight, no doubt. All thanks to my good friend, Andrea, who, bless her heart, is working her tail to the bone in my old position at the university. I know, Andrea, you just wanted to say “grazie” for leaving you all of that work, right?
Well, regardless of the reasons – Easter happiness, springtime amore, faithful friendships, or, my personal favorite – good karma – yesterday was un giorno bellissimo for me, a really beautiful day, and for that, I am so thankful!
those are gorgeous! I love Tulips too – they are my favorite, all cheery and bright.
Funny that after we left each other, we both went on to have even more good things happen…flowers, McDonald’s…*sigh*
Good things must breed good things 🙂
Beautiful flowers. It sounded like a pretty darn good day! Hope you have another one today : )
The post is lovely, and the fact you couldn’t wait to share it makes it more special.
I couldn’t help but laugh when thinking of the flower delivery. It just wouldn’t be Italy if they arrived on time, now would it? I’m wondering if the expression “on time” or the words prompt, expedite or urgent exist in the Itlian language? LOL! We all know that time has a different meaning in Italy.
It’s great you and sognatrice got to visit. I want to visit you both!
Beautiful Flowers!! love all the bright colors!!
Sounds like an absolutely perfect day along with the cappuccino and time with a friend!!
What pretty flowers!
What beautiful flowers! The weather has been just wonderful here too. Not too hot and not too cold. I think spring is here to stay!
Wish we lived closer and we could go for a walk along the seaside!
Happy spring!
