Your journey begins at 5:00 PM at our hotel in the heart of Pest. If you took our advice and arrived a day early, you’ll be perfectly primed to meet your host, Cherrye, and local historian, Veira, for an unforgettable ascent to Buda Hill. From this vantage point, watch the Danube sparkle as lanterns flicker to life across the skyline. The evening concludes with a vibrant welcome feast celebrating the savory soul of Hungarian cuisine and local wines, providing a high-energy introduction to the adventure ahead.
Today you’ll stroll along Pest’s magnificent boulevards toward the Opera House. Inside its gilded halls, you will discover the musical culture that shaped Central Europe before enjoying an exclusive concert by its soloists. The stage then shifts to the market, where you will join a local chef to gather ingredients for a hands-on cooking class. Inside an apartment kitchen, you’ll prepare a traditional Hungarian feast step by step. The evening is yours to explore at your own pace.
Journey into Slovakia today via a pause in Eger, a town celebrated for its bold Bull’s Blood wine. After exploring the historic streets and sharing a group lunch, we arrive in Košice.
The afternoon features a hands-on workshop at the East Slovak Gallery inspired by Andy Warhol’s roots. Using vibrant inks and patterns, you’ll create pop-art keepsakes on cloth before enjoying a free evening in this vibrant city.
Today begins with a stroll through Košice including an exclusive tour of the city’s ancient underground foundations, then enjoy free time at the Dominikánske Square market to browse local stalls or sip coffee as the square awakens.
Lunch takes us back to 1542 at a historic restaurant for local dishes and incredible beer tasting. Later, a guided visit to the Museum of Victims of Communism offers a profound look at life under the regime.
The morning offers a choice between a choral Latin mass in the Cathedral of St. Elisabeth or a leisurely Sunday brunch. Mid-morning, we cross into the Tokaj wine region to visit Château Grand Bari. Here, Italian roots from Puglia meet legendary Furmint vines.
Explore vineyard rows and cool tuff cellars where noble mold clings to the walls. After tasting the “wine of kings,” we return to Košice for a free evening.
We journey toward the High Tatras, pausing at the massive Spiš Castle ruins before visiting Kežmarok’s UNESCO wooden church. Built entirely without nails, its timber beams are silvered by centuries of history. After lunch, we reach our mountain retreat on the banks of Štrbské Pleso. This glacial lake mirrors the sharp alpine peaks, offering a serene landscape of pines and thin mountain air. Enjoy a free afternoon at the wellness center or lakeside.
Today brings a mountain railway ride followed by a scenic hike to the Cold Waterfalls. After taking in rushing streams and alpine views, we enjoy a hearty lunch at a traditional mountain cottage. In the afternoon, we embrace the local rhythm with an indulgent coffee and pastry ritual. This cherished daily pause features steam curling over cups and plates of decadent, layered cakes. It is a moment of pure Slovakian warmth and friendship. The rest of the day is yours.
Today we journey toward Poland, stopping in the village of Ždiar to explore its vibrant Goral traditions. Members of our group will step into the roles of a traditional Slovak wedding. Brightly embroidered costumes flash against historic walls, turning folk architecture into a living stage. Following lunch, we cross the border into Poland and arrive in Kraków. After settling into our perfectly located hotel, the evening is yours to begin exploring this historic city at your own pace.
Today we visit the memorial sites of Auschwitz and Auschwitz II–Birkenau. These are somber locations with immense historical weight, and our guided visit is paced with the respect and care this history deserves. We provide the time and space necessary to process the significance of these sites, ensuring a solemn understanding of the region’s past. We return to Kraków in the late afternoon for a free evening.
Spend the morning walking Kraków’s Old Town to taste the city’s favorite street foods. From warm obwarzanek to bubbling zapiekanka and sweet pierogi, the flavors of Poland unfold alongside historic squares. In the evening, a tram carries us into the Kazimierz district for a farewell dinner in a traditional Jewish restaurant. Live Klezmer music fills the room as soulful violin melodies provide a poignant, beautiful end to our journey.
After breakfast, we’ll check out of the hotel and transfer together to the Kraków airport. Morning light glints off the rooftops and church bells echo across the Old Town as we leave the city behind.
