Peppe and I have decided it is time to kick our language skills up a notch! He, for one, is ready to learn Spanish. He insists this has nothing to do with his secret dream-filled love affair with Shakira, or his, thus so far, futile attempts to learn her latest song “Las de la Intuicion.”
He simply refuses to take my Cheech and Chong-inspired approach to learning foreign-language songs…
For example, according to sing365, Shakira says
“Y creo que empiezo a entender
despacio, despacio, comienzas a entender”
But, we all know she is really saying
“You can’t always get what you want
Espresso, Espresso, Espresso…”
The girl just wants a cup of coffee!

Or, at church, somehow the words get mixed up from
“Hosanna, Hosanna, Hosanna
Nel alto de cieli…”
to
“Hosanna, Hosanna, Hosanna
Anotherrrrr Cherrye….”
I’m not being sacrilegious…that is just what I hear!
So, to kick it up a notch, Pep and I have decided to start reading in other languages.

Hey, Cherrye.. I’m with YOU. When I moved to Brazil, the comics were the first things I could understand!
Italy is on my short list of places to visit… who knows, maybe sometime soon 🙂

Seriously, reading Italian is a lot different from speaking it (duh) because they tend to use a lot of words that don’t really come up in every day life–and use a lot more words than necessary. Probably not an issue with Paperino but….
I occasionally pick up magazines in Italian just to learn the language a little better. I usually get Italian sport or fashion magazines from our library. Of course, the problem is when I go to Italy I will only be able to talk to anyone about soccer teams or pants. You might have the same problem Cherrye. You might just sound like a comic book…hmmmm.

Sognatrice – I noticed the same THING when reading magazines or papers. I am thinking, you could have said that in at least 10 LESS words than you did! But, how dare you insinuate Donald isn’t eloquent…poor Don.
J – If I could only get the Donald Duck accent working for me, I’d be all over that! lol This particular part is all about an internet competition. They are making up words…not nice!
