Ha ha … I’ve been single for tons of Valentine Days. I used to go out with my girls every year. Actually, one year I had a bf and went out with early so I could still go with my girls on the big day. He and I didn’t stay together long! lol

Over the years we have tried them all, weekend away, dinner out, dinner in, just the two of us, with friends, without offspring, with offspring. Heck we’ve even had some apart (he went skiing with his buddies – just to keep the record straight) but I think my favourites are the quite evenings together, just enjoying what we’ve created together. And the presents, I love getting presents 😉
I’m with you, Joanne! I think we are going to stay in this year and cook a nice, romantic dinner together. We both love to cook and sometimes when you go out, I don’t know … it feels “cheaper” for some reason.
We keep things simple too. We usually stay in, make a nice dinner and thats about it. maybe exchange small gifts or cards = flowers optional, chocolate required. ha I’m not a big fan of going out on Valentine’s, all the menus are set (read expensive) and every place is crowded!
That is why I don’t like going out, either. It is more romantic at home … or, well it can be! ha ha

We keep things very simple – cards, sometimes some chocolates – this year I found something he would really like (red velvet cake bites in chocolate truffles), but those truffles are going to arrive like a week early, so instead of letting them get dry, he’s just getting the gift early 🙂
As for the day itself we *always* stay in and usually do a simple dinner of bread and cheese and salads – that way dinner is easy and we can just relax.
