10 Things Happy Couples Do – Anniversary Edition

Today marks one year since my husband and I tied the knot and in celebration of 12 months of marital bliss I want to share an article I read this weekend.

According to Mark Goulston, M.D., happy couples know the real relationship begins when the honeymoon ends. They have to maintain their love, he says so they will enjoy a long-lasting, fulfilling relationship. He lists 10 things happy couples do, such as go to bed at the same time, hug often and look for the positive traits in each other.

The article is chock-full of seemingly common sense traits of happy couples and I’m proud we seem to be on the right track. I encourage you to read the article. It can validate your current behaviors or offer tips and suggestions for fine-tuning.

If nothing else … it’s a feel-good read. Enjoy.

Buona Domenica!

Nope. Just a year. It seems much less than a year to me, actually. We’ve been “together” for years and years, though!!

You look gorgeous (and your hubby too!).

Hubby and I are going on 4 years of married bliss (I consider married bliss both the up’s and down’s). I am so reading Mark Goulston’s article! Thanks!

Thank you for the compliments!! I think bliss is both the ups and downs, too, as long as there are more ‘ups’ it is all good!

  7. Happy Anniversary Cherrye! Such a beautiful photo (and no, I don’t think it’s thanks to the stylists and photographers, nice try!). Thanks too for posting the article. Marco and I are just a couple of months ahead of you (but spent the first six months of our marriage living on separate continents, so now we’re behind!) so I’m looking forward to reading it.

Yesterday was also my grandma’s 89th birthday. My parents brought her to their house for a birthday lunch, my aunt and uncle were there — and then we skyped with video cam — first to me and Marco here in Paris and then to my brother and his family in LA. My dad said she was so surprised and really tickled, and that it really lifted her spirits.

So yesterday was a very happy day! Glad you two enjoyed it together.

Oh how wonderful. I bet she loved getting to share her birthday with everyone! And I hear you on the long-distance thing… we did it (before we were married) for years … 🙁
