Last year, Cherrye was hanging out at her favorite café, Bar Centrale in Catanzaro Lido, when she spotted something new: Amaro Milone. As someone who enjoys discovering new digestives made in Calabria, she was intrigued and asked to try it. The rich, complex flavors immediately stood out, and she needed to learn more.
Curious about the story behind this unique drink, she did a little research, which led her to Davide Milone, one of its founders.
Cherrye loved their passion for Calabria and its ancient myths, which inspired them to create Amaro Milone. It was obvious to her that it was a true labor of love, capturing the essence of the region in every bottle.
What began as a simple sip had turned into a beautiful discovery, one that she now shares with her friends, families, and guests.
Some of the best ideas are born between old friends—and sometimes, those ideas turn into bottles of bold, beautiful amaro. That’s exactly what happened with Amaro Milone, a passion project-turned-local-legend created by our friends Davide Milone and Michele Sotero in Crotone, Calabria.
Growing up in the same neighborhood, both spent their early years surrounded by the scents and flavors of Calabria—thanks to their grandfathers who made wine, oil, and homemade infusions. Life took them in different directions—Davide into tech, Michele into the arts—but they always came back home, and back to the dream of creating something that truly represented their land.
The idea? To bottle something that truly captured the essence of Calabria—without all the frills. Amaro Milone isn’t just a drink; it’s a “strong cordial” that blends bold storytelling with even bolder flavor. Inspired by local myth (yes, that Milone, the ancient Greek wrestler who once roamed these lands), and fueled by the gritty charm of their home region, Davide and Michele created something that feels at once nostalgic and new.
Inspired by the legendary Milo of Croton—an ancient Greek athlete known for his strength, spirit, and love of a good post-meal drink—Amaro Milone is a bold, aromatic digestivo crafted in Calabria. Made with botanicals such as wild herbs, cardamom, juniper berries, and citrus, it’s a love letter to the land—rooted in tradition, full of character, and unmistakably Calabrian.
Enjoy it at room temperature or slightly chilled, after lunch or dinner, when the conversation lingers and the flavors can shine. No frills—just soul.
